| Obsolete | HTML Inserter-style functionality appears in Wordpress sidebars by default as of version 2.8, rendering HTML Inserter obsolete. |
| Overview | HTML Inserter allows you to directly enter text into your dynamic sidebar, giving you more design control and faster editing of semi-static text. |
| Download | Download the plugin and readme file (2.1k, .zip). |
|
Installation |
Unzip the the plug-in and copy the file HTMLInserter.php to your plugins folder at /wp-content/plugins/. Text and HTML insertion is performed by using the plugin editor built into WordPress, or by editing the HTMLInserter.php file directly with a separate text editor. Position in the sidebar is set from the WordPress widget page |
| Tips |
While you can get away with it if you're careful, I'd advise against editing text while the plugin is active. To make multiple text and HTML insertions into a single sidebar, duplicate the HTMLInserter.php file, then change all instances of HTMLInsert in the source to HTMLInsert2. Change the file name to HTMLInserter2.php, and place it in /wp-content/plugins/. It will now appear as a separate plugin, which you can modify and place independently. |
